Texas here we come

Mike and I got to fly out to Texas last weekend and look around for an area we might want to live. It was a wonderful trip, although it was kind of a whirlwind and we spent most of it in a car or on a plane. Everyone we met was so nice and kind, even the strangers you pass on the street all smiled and said howdy at the very least! People were so anxious to help us and welcome us, it was wonderful. When we were driving around looking at neighborhoods and stopped to pick up fliers, we even had people run out of their houses to greet us and see if we needed any help finding our way around.
There were so many nice places around Fort Worth, and it really doesn't feel like a big city in most places because of all the wide open space and fields in between everything. We finally settled on a place called Burleson (or at least that area) because it just feels right. It is comfortable and relaxed with a small town type of atmosphere, but not too far away from work and all the fun things to do in the city. We got to go to one of the wards there for church and also for their ward dinner, and they were just wonderful. They made us feel right at home and I know we will have a support system there in the church, even though we will be far from our families in UT. Mike will be staying with a couple there who have been so generous to us. We feel like we have been led where we are going and everything is falling into place, and we feel so grateful for our blessings!
Some fun things we did after we were finished neighborhood shopping were to visit downtown Fort Worth's botanic gardens and also their historic Stockyards area. There are a lot of other fun things we want to see once we move down, like the zoo, the art museums, the space and technology museum, and the children's theater. It will be fun to explore with the kids. We went to the Japanese garden at the botanic gardens and it was very peaceful and beautiful, even with the trees still not full of leaves yet. We got a feel for the roots of Fort Worth at the Stockyards, where they run longhorn cattle down the street twice a day and cowboys on horses are on every corner. Lots of fun!
