A sad day

Our kitty Cat, Link, died this morning. We are very sad, but it was saddest to tell the kids. Some of them are taking it hard. We are going to bury him in the yard and plant a tree over his grave this evening. He was a good kitty, kind of odd, but good. We adopted him as a kitten and he was the runt of the litter. When he saw us he mewed and mewed for us and was just desperate to come home with us. We adopted him with his sister, who was shy and not so anxious to be adopted. He had an insatiable need for people and constant attention. He was almost like a dog that way. Most cats are rather indifferent to people but he couldn't stand to be without us. Even when he grew out of the kitten phase, he would still cry at our bedroom door to be let in every night. He couldn't stand to be left out of whatever the people were doing. He couldn't resist jumping back on our laps even if he knew he would get in trouble for it. He loved his sister too, and it was after she ran away that he started acting really sick and not eating. He had infinite patience for little kids carrying him and mauling him and hugging him too tight. He probably had problems from the time he was born - he was small, didn't eat well, didn't have any coordination at all, and was not the brightest kitty. But he sure loved us, and he was a good kitty, and we will miss him.
