Michaela's birthday party

We had a little party (like 20 minutes long!)  just at home with the family for Michaela's birthday. One year olds rarely care much about their birthdays but it is always fun for the rest of us.  I got a pumpkin pie since it seemed like a healthier choice to offset all the candy that we all would be getting at halloween.  It looked cute when I got it the day before, but the frosting kind of seeped into the pie after sitting overnight.  Oh well.
Keeping little fingers out of the flames while we sang happy birthday.
This is for me?  What do I do with it?
 Digging in.
This present has been around since before she was born, but I finally finished it.  It is a handmade book that Grandma McCausland and Robleigh, my midwife, helped make while they were here waiting for Michaela to be born.  There were some finishing touches it has needed and I finally got them done in time for her birthday. It has things to open, tie, jingle, zip, and other fun activities in it.  She loves books, especially this one, and it is a special gift with lots of loving hands that have worked on it.
A fun noisy toy!  What was I thinking!  This toy has actually been used more by the boys than anyone since she opened it.  Naturally.
