It's a girl!

Here's me and the little pumpkin at 27 weeks (last week). For those who haven't heard, we found out we are having a little girl! Alaina and Ethan got to come along to the ultrasound with me and Daddy. Alaina and I were very sure I was having a boy, and the boys thought it was a girl. I was very surprised but excited. Ethan was excited that he was right, and he kept saying, 'I always know what the baby is!' Like he has had a lot of experience. When the ultrasound tech heard how many brothers Alaina has, she thought that she would definitely be excited by this news, but instead she almost started to cry. 'I thought it was a brother!' she said. She wasn't too happy. I don't know if it is just because she is used to brothers and she likes them, or because she wants to be the only princess and not share (Ethan didn't help this by telling her she would get to share her room), but she has been a little hard to sell on the idea. Gradually she is coming around, though. I think she is starting to get excited. Every once in a while she still says, 'maybe it will be a brother,' but she has started calling the baby her little sister and I think she is getting used to the idea. She will be glad to have a sister when she gets older, I think. And I am happy for the baby that they can play girl stuff together. She will already be 4 yrs apart from Alaina so it might help that they are the same gender so they do more things together. It has been fun to break out Alaina's special blankets and the little clothes I saved. I'm glad I saved some now, although it seemed silly at the time, since we thought we were probably done. They were just too cute to give away yet.
