Spring in Texas
I've decide Spring is definitely my favorite season in Texas. (Mike would probably differ in this, since allergies are really getting to him right now, though.) The weather is generally beautiful, and there are tons of wildflowers everywhere, all over the roadsides, on the freeway medians, and everywhere you look. The variety of birds here is amazing, and they sing such pretty songs. I took some pictures when we went to the park a few weeks back - there was a fun little nature trail there that the kids enjoyed.
Here's Alaina with her best girlfriend, Jentrey. Someday she will let me do her hair. They enjoyed looking at all the flowers and butterflies, and picking up roly polys with the boys.
Here's a common variety of wildflower that grows along the roadsides. It looks really pretty next to all the blue and purple flowers that grow at the same time.
This is the Texas state flower, the bluebonnet. We see these everywhere. They are very pretty. I guess you can get a pretty hefty fine if you are caught picking them. I had to make sure Alaina knew not to pick them, since she loves picking flowers. Last time we went to the park, she brought me some droopy roses that had fallen on the ground. I told her she could bring me flowers that were on the ground but not to pick them off the bush. Soon she came up to me with a whole entire pansy plant, roots and all. Well, they were on the ground! Obviously I have to be more clear about how I word things.
