Dallas Temple Trip

We took the primary children of our ward on a special trip to see the Dallas Temple, which is about an hour away. They were all so excited to see the temple! They talked about it for months leading up to it and practiced singing 'I love to see the Temple' to sing while we were there. About half of the primary showed up, in their Sunday best, and had a wonderful, memorable experience. They were so reverent. Our family on the steps of the Dallas Temple. (Someday we will get them all to look at the camera at once for pictures.) It was a special thing to be able to be at the temple together, and I think the kids will remember it for a long time.
The primary children, and a few of the wonderful ladies I work with in the primary presidency. I am actually the oldest of the four of us, but I totally look up to every one of them, they are amazing women.

The temple matron gave us a book about the temple made specifically for children and families to take a self guided tour of the grounds and learn about how it was built and some of the symbolism of its design. The closest temple before it was built was in Arizona. The members including the primary children worked very hard and sacrificed to raise the money to build the temple. It is covered in shiny marble, and it has six spires, although I wasn't able to get all of them in any of the pictures. It is much smaller than the temple in St George, but beautiful. We are grateful to have a temple close enough to visit regularly.

We were able to take all the primary children inside the large entrance area of the temple, where the temple matron talked with them and they sang 'I love to see the Temple.' I was worried because the kids were being kind of noisy outside on the grounds, but as soon as they stepped through the doors, a hush came over them. Alaina whispered to Mike, 'Daddy, this is a Quiet place.' They could feel it was special.

Touching the Temple. ‘As we touch the temple, the temple will touch us.’” -President Thomas S Monson.
