We thought Pioneer day was just a Utah thing, but the Fort Worth Stake organized our very own little pioneer day celebration on the 24th of July. They had pie eating and watermelon seed spitting contests, handcart races, pioneer crafts, and a little parade around the stake center. Shaun learned to dance the Virginia reel, and there was a program with fiddling and singing pioneer hymns. It was a fun evening.

Wow! That sounds like quite an undertaking! I'm on the activities committee in my ward, so everything sounds like "fun" but it also sounds like a lot of work! We didn't have any celebration for the 24th here! :( Maybe I can convince them to do that next year!
