Happy Easter

Here are some pictures from our Easter weekend. We spent Saturday afternoon playing and eating at the Humphries family get together, and the kids flew kites and hunted for eggs. Then we went to passover (our own Christian version) with the McCausland family. It was a good day together with our loved ones and a good time to remember the reason for the season. Today we gave the kids their kites (a tradition), some treats, sidewalk chalk, and a gospel art picture booklet. We opened our resurrection eggs (another tradition) and Alaina especially loved looking in the eggs over and over to see the items inside. I used the eggs for sharing time to tell the story of Jesus' death and ressurrection, and it went really well. I love things like that that bring out the real reason for the holiday and tell the story but make it fun also.

Here are our funky colored tie dye eggs. We had fun making them, although they were messy!

Here are some pictures of the kids playing with their Humphries cousins. I would have taken pictures at passover too but no one likes their picture taken while they are eating.

Jeremy playing horseshoes in Grandma and Grandpa's yard.

Alaina hunting easter eggs.

The bigger kids get a turn to hunt eggs in Heather and Jason's yard. They all came back with a big stash and more candy than they will ever need. I have to figure out where to hide it now. They are still getting over their colds and I'm sure that won't help. But they had fun.

Happy Easter! Glad yours was so great. I want to know more about the resurrection eggs. I think I might have heard of them, but I'm not sure. How nice that you got to spend time with both families!

I got my resurrection eggs at walmart but you can get them online from this company: http://store.familylife.com/detail.asp?id=10851
The ones I have have a little booklet that gave kind of a devotional idea for each egg, if you wanted to only open one a day and talk about it. I have altered some of the devotionals since some of the teachings were a little too bornagain christian for me and didn't include anything about doing our part, but for the most part the ideas in it are great.
