Don't eat grasshoppers! (and other things I never thought I'd say)

My boys were outside with their friend from next door the other day, and we overheard them talking about eating grasshoppers, and how they taste good. While I guess I should be glad that they are willing to eat just about anything and would not starve if we were stuck in the wilderness, this has me a little worried. So we called them in and asked them how many grasshoppers they had eaten, and told them we didn't want them doing that anymore. Jeremy started to fuss and asked why, and I told him I don't know what those grasshoppers have been eating or what is in them. He said, 'there's just meat in them!' EWWw. Anyway, they promised reluctantly not to eat grasshoppers anymore or pull off their legs, and went to tell their friend. Their friend then ran home because he said he didn't want to play with them anymore if they wouldn't eat grasshoppers with him. So Jeremy is crying again saying if he doesn't eat grasshoppers Tyler won't be his friend anymore! So then we got to talk about peer pressure and how if Tyler told him to jump off a bridge would he do it, etc etc. And I reassured him that his friend would be back to play within the day (he is on our porch every day asking to play). Sure enough he was back an hour later playing like nothing had happened. I continue to be amazed at the weird things I end up discussing with my boys!
