Funny little things

One of the great things about blogging regularly, back when I was doing that, was the chance to record the funny and sweet little moments that otherwise would get forgotten or eclipsed by the frustrations. Here are a few from the past few days:

We have been trying to potty train Ethan, with limited success. When we asked in frustration why he yet again had messed his pants, he exclaimed, "I just need a Potty Train!" I realized this whole time he thought the process had something to do with trains. Ha. So we got him a potty seat and put some thomas the train stickers on it and that made him a little more jazzed to go potty. Still having accidents, but there is progress.

Yesterday was Valentine's day, and also our anniversary. We have all been sick so we didn't want to stay up until the kids went to bed to watch a movie, so we just picked a kid safe romantic comedy and tried to watch it together while they were awake. We let them sit with us, all we asked was that we be able to sit by eachother and hold hands with no one on our laps. Well, Jeremy was very upset that he didn't get to be on Dad's lap, and when Dad explained that it was our anniversary and so we should get to have our space with eachother, Jeremy said, 'But it's Valentine's day and you should be Sharing on Valentine's day!"

Some cute things I want to remember: Alaina is funny when it comes to sleeping and waking up. When I am holding her and she is tired, she snuggles up against me and pats my back. I guess she figures since I pat her back when she is tired that is what she should do. When she wakes up in her bed, she doesn't usually cry, she just stands up and starts yelling at me - 'MA!' It is funny. She is really quite bossy and she knows she rules the roost.

Another funny thing today - my baby sister, who is 9 yrs old, called me today to tell me exactly what toilet cleaner she uses when she cleans the toilet. I guess she noticed the gross boys bathroom at my house (which is cleaned daily but with 4 little boys it is just always gross anyway) and thought she needed to help. She told me I should get scrubbing bubbles, and proceeded to tell me how 'it works hard so you don't have to.' That was all she wanted to tell me. I thanked her and tried not to laugh.

Thank goodness for the fun little moments. Hopefully we will all get over this nasty cold soon so we can enjoy more of them and not be zombies on the couch anymore.
